Searching for Tinkers Construct for Fabric is common, because many players build their packs on Fabric. Here is what is actually available and what that means for your setup.
The short answer
There is no official Fabric version of Tinkers' Construct. The official mod from SlimeKnights is published for Forge and NeoForge. The file linked from our download section is a Forge/NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Why there is no Fabric build
The SlimeKnights FAQ explains that the team sees little value in maintaining the mod on several loaders. It also notes that Fabric lacks systems Tinkers depends on, including parts of model loading, events, Forge's fluid handling and the capability system. Porting would mean rebuilding a lot of the mod rather than recompiling it.
Unofficial ports
The same FAQ names Hephaestus as an unofficial Fabric port. Unofficial ports are made by other developers, may cover different Minecraft versions, and can lag behind or differ from the official mod in features and recipes. Bugs in a port should be reported to the port's authors, not to SlimeKnights.
Choosing a loader
| If you want… | Choose |
|---|---|
| The official Tinkers experience, current updates and official support | Forge or NeoForge |
| To keep an existing Fabric pack and accept differences | An unofficial port, checked carefully |
| To follow future official versions | NeoForge, which SlimeKnights plans to target for 1.21.1 |
For the 1.21.1 plans, see our 1.21.1 status guide.
Tips if you go unofficial
- Read the port's own page for its Minecraft version and required libraries.
- Do not mix official Forge jars into a Fabric instance — they will not load.
- Expect guides written for the official mod to differ in places.
- Back up worlds before switching, since items from one version may not carry over.
